WELCOME to the ARTS SOCIETY DORSET COUNTY
The Arts Society Dorset County meets monthly for interesting talks on a wide variety of arts subjects. The talks are given by lecturers with the finest credentials in their specialist fields. All our lecturers have been accredited by the Arts Society which ensures a high standard of presentations.
There are ten lectures each year (September to June) held at 6.30pm usually on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Our meeting place is The Dorford Centre, Bridport Road, Dorchester DT1 1RR (please check on the Lectures page). We also provide hybrid lectures so that members, if they wish, can watch at home on Zoom.
Dorset County also organises a series of events and visits. Social events include summer and winter parties and a new members party. Visits take place to stately homes, art exhibitions, museums or other places of interest. We also arrange 5 day group holidays either in the UK or abroad.
The Arts Society was founded in 1968 and was called the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS)) until May 2017 when it changed its name to reflect the broader range of the Arts subjects its members were interested in.
The Arts Society Dorset County (formerly DCDFAS) is a registered chairty (290307) and has been a member society of The Arts Society since 1978.
We are also part of a network of Arts Societies within the Wessex Area which offers further opportunities for visits and study days. As part of our affiliation, members also receive The Arts Society magazine, and regular e-newsletters including a monthly "Instant Expert" series. To find out more: visit The Arts Society.
